Introduction to Shakespeare

Monday, September 26th, 2011

Join the Blue Mountains Teen Homeschool Group for an introduction to Shakespeare with Georgia Adamson. Georgia’s classes have been so well received by the group this year that we’re expecting this one to fill up fast.

Like all plays, Shakespeare’s were written to be heard rather than read and this interactive workshop series will give participants an opportunity to engage with the language and ideas of one of the world’s most extraordinary writers in 6 dynamic and engaging classes.

Looking through the prism of the nature of jealousy and revenge, and using the plays A Midsummer Nights Dream and The Merchant of Venice, we will explore the language and characters with a focus on the exploration of the text rather than performance.

Georgia has taught and performed for the Bell Shakespeare Company, the Sydney Theatre Company and trained at Shakespeare & Company in Massachusetts, USA.

6 weeks for $135 HEA members/ $150 non HEA members.

Pottery for homeschoolers! (Primary school age)

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

Classes were great this term and we are looking to continue into term four! We need a few more participants to ensure our classes run as we’ve had a couple not able to continue. So… if you’ve been thinking about pottery… now’s the time to enrol!

Classes will run out of the Blue Mountains Creative Arts Centre in Glenbrook. Here is a link to their website for more details:

http://www.bmcac.com/

Kids are guided and shown techniques but at the same time are free to create whatever it is they wish and to express themselves through this medium. Come along and make anything your heart desires, from bowls and cups, to pendants and rings, to dragons and crocodiles, pandas, cats, spag. bol on a plate, leaves, snails, coins, volcanoes….. These are all things kids made this term! The class would suit primary school aged children either beginners or those with more experience with the medium – as you work at your own pace.

If you’re interested please email me asap:

contact@idyll.com.au

The term runs for 8 weeks and is $115 per participant which covers all your materials (clay, glazes, paints, firing etc) as well. Classes are scheduled on Thursdays and Fridays from 1:30-3:00pm. Please indicate which day suits you best when replying.
