It was decided in 2010 to use National Home Education Week to celebrate BMHEN as a group and to raise community awareness of the number of families in the Blue Mountains involved with home education.

After considering different ways of acknowledging the children, parents and tutors associated with our group, we settled on the idea of hosting an annual Market Day at the Mid Mountains Neighbourhood Centre in Lawson, timed to coincide with Home Education Week. Our inaugural Market Day involved free workshops, market stalls, circus performers, face-painting, a raffle, food and music and was a huge success, attracting hundreds of members of the homeschooling community and the general public.

BMHEN Market Day is a big undertaking involving many elements of the community coming together in celebrating our way of life.
