The Blue Mountains Home Education Network (BMHEN) is a non-profit volunteer group dedicated to supporting all home educators and those considering home education across the Blue Mountains greater region from Penrith to Oberon. We are one of many networks operating within the national Home Education Association framework dedicated to supporting and assisting families to connect within their local home educating community.
BMHEN aims to facilitate communication between established home educators and those curious about home education as a choice for their family. Through our website and yahoo group we aim to provide access to information and resources and serve as a link between the various smaller support groups and initiatives in the area.
Along with encouraging individuals to organise their own activities and promote them through using our Submit an Event facility, we also seek to create opportunities for collaboration between groups representing the diversity of this network. In addition, the committee presents BMHEN educational events that may otherwise be unavailable to smaller support groups to offer to their members.
BMHEN also works towards developing an awareness of home education within the general community and promoting a favourable climate through Community Initiatives such as the Home Education Week Market Day, BMHEN Resource Link, the BM City Council Library Donation Scheme and collaboration with other established community groups. Take a look at our Community pages for information.
